Teague Alexy’s music and writing is deeply rooted in Americana after touring the country for nearly a decade with brother Ian in their foot-stomping duo Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. If you listen close to the swing of Teague’s voice, guitar a
nd harmonica you can hear he has not completely forgotten growing up in South Jersey an aspiring DJ and rapper. If you listen close to Teague’s wordplay, you can still hear a hint of the Irish storytellers he descended from. It is an ever-expanding backdrop for an original and profound American musician, writer and storyteller.
On October 19, 2015, Teague released a collection of rhyming folktales including How Lefty Stepanovich Turned Water Into Wine – winner of 2014 Duluth Reader’s Best Book of the Northland. The book is called The New Folklore: Lyrical Tales for Dreamers & Thinkers (North Star Press) and is a continuation on the theme of Teague’s 2006 album also called The New Folklore by Teague Alexy & The Feelin Band (featuring Nicholas David).
The Weekly Reader calls Teague “a potential great new American voice. The gift of painting pictures with words is a unique one, and this man is truly blessed.”
