A virtuoso on a myriad of stringed instruments, Saint Paul-based 
experimental/progressive folk artist Paul Metzger focuses much of his creative energy on his 23-string modified banjo. A self-taught student of both Eastern and Western traditional music, Metzger first appeared on the full-length Three Improvisations on Modified Banjo for Chairkickers Music in 2005, followed by nine other solo albums, the latest being “1300” released late in 2015 on Nero’s Neptune. Metzger has toured the US and Europe. In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious McKnight Musician Fellowship.
