Years ago, I was outside, locking the doors to House of Mercy, when we were located in Lowertown. A man approached me and spoke to me about God, asking personal questions about my faith. He asked me if I had the gift of speaking in tongues. I replied that I did, though it most likely wasn’t in line with his idea of speaking in tongues. To me, music is speaking in tongues; communicating a message one can understand and feel, that transcends language and explanation. Music is the universal language that crosses boundaries, creates unity, and speaks to our souls.
