In Larson’s newest work titled Depression Groove, he takes early American country music ephemera to revisit themes from his ongoing body of work titled Heavy Rotation, a term that refers to the frequent radio airplay of a record album. In this new body of work, Larson continues his ongoing research into mark-making through removal and mechanical gestures. As a sculptor, he approaches these works using methods of subtraction, repetition, and play to document labor in the context of the studio.
