Jessica Skilar “Rosehips”

Jessica Skilar August 14, 2016

Jessica Lydia Skilar comes to her craft from a life-long passion for writing. The leap from poem to song was first made on the hallowed grounds of Duluth’s famous Amazing Grace Café, where other community artists first inspired her to explore melody and overcome a fear of performance. Now, relocated to Minneapolis and emboldened with a desire to change perception through an inherent and unapologetically fierce femininity, Skilar is an experienced voice with a knack for storytelling that both haunts and heals. Her debut EP Perfect Paper Moon is that of a woman exiled, a collection that aches with the wisdom of retrospect and uses music to ask deeply internal questions of human connection and personal autonomy.
