Musical guest: Fletcher Magellan

Date: March 4, 2018
Time: 5:00 pm  to  6:00 pm

Fletcher Magellan plays Cosmic Country. What’s that mean, anyway? This Minneapolis-based six-piece draws influence, instruments, and imagery from gospel, R&B, and psychedelic rock along with both kinds of music (country and western).

“Fletch” has performed at Mid West Music Fest in Winona, Big Turn Music Fest in Red Wing, and Kantishna Music Festival in Denali National Park, Alaska (where members Cody Fitzpatrick and Emmalyn Kayser spend their summer months). They are currently recording an album Cody wrote about his experiences in the 49th State.

“His debut album, Become a Stranger, is the work of a musician who has put in the hours, gained the callouses, had the arguments, and hit the lows as well as the highs.” – Youa Vang, City Pages

“There’s a sense that Became a Stranger is a labor of love — not just for the settings of its eleven songs, but the great arch of country music from its early roots in string tunes … to its revival as ‘Americana.’ ” – Dave Hoenack, Hymie’s Vintage Records
